The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational programme primarily aimed at students aged 16–19. The program provides an internationally recognized credential that prepares students for university and higher education.
If you're thinking of enrolling in the IBDP, or are already enrolled and want to be prepared for the start of the program, here are 4 tips that we have gathered from our professional tutors who have been teaching the IBDP program for nearly 10 years.
1. Consider signing up for a summer course or class that will give you a taste of what the IBDP is like and help prepare you for the journey ahead. For You Education is a professional tutoring center that has been tutoring students across the whole of HK on the IB program. There are many professional tutoring centers that offer such courses, so do your research to find one that best suits your needs.
2. The IBDP curriculum is demanding, so it's important to be prepared both mentally and physically. Be sure to get plenty of rest and exercise leading up to the start of the program, as you'll need all the energy and focus you can muster.
3. Get organized and create a study plan that breaks down your goals into manageable chunks, not only this ensures that you are making progress and not getting overwhelmed by the workload; this trains your time management skills which are essential to the IBDP program.
4. Finally, reach out to your fellow IB students and build a support network. This could be as simple as joining an online forum or connecting with classmates on social media. There are forms such as Reddit who have millions of students who are taking or have taken the IBDP program, so you will already have access to some resources already. Furthermore, knowing that you are not alone in this endeavour can make all of the difference.
So don't hesitate, join our summer programs to have a taste of the IBDP program, so that you can get a head start compared to your pears. You can additionally have a consultation with one of our professional tutors on what subjects you should take; or even whether you should take standard level or higher level.
